tach won't go past 6500 rpm???!!!!!
i have a 98 gsr, and when i try to take it up to redline, the tach doesnt go past 6500 rpm. the speedometer keeps going, and the engine seems like it goes past 6500 because when i do it in first, the speedometer goes up to about 40 mph and then i hit the rev limiter which is about where its supposed to be at 8200 rpm. anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? i just had a valve adjustment done, and ever since then, its been doing this. could a fouled up valve adjustment be the cause for this? any and all help is appreciated. TIA.
yeah sound like its broken, check if the needle gets stuck on something. if you cant fix it you can go two ways. you can spend 100 and buy another gauge cluster or just find an LS cluster which you should be able to buy for real chep and just pull the tach out and and use the gauge face off your gsr so the redline is still at 8k.
nope...stock gauges. i've never messed with them at all. i've had the car for about 20K miles, and it just started happening.
vudoo: hopefully the people who tell you its the distributor are correct cuz i would rather change the cap and rotor than mess w/ all the electronic stuff in changing the gauges.
