So I don't know much about the RSX and wanted to know if the sport shift transmission is crappy like the prelude 5th gens and gives out pretty early?

In case you still have any doubt, check around clubrsx.com -- loads of RSX info there. Even there, I just don't remember seeing the topic come up at all.

the reason why auto prelude's have problems is because too much hp to the auto tranny, thats why auto v6 tranny problems too.
but the rsx should be fine because auto only came on the base model. and thats probably why auto isnt offered on the type-s.

i don't think that having high hp is the problem for auto trannies
its probably just a problem that the auto preludes themselves are having

well all of the 3.0 & 3.2 first gen and second gen Acura CL's with automatic(also the sport shift) have tranny problems, along with automatic v6 accords, and the 3.2TL, the v6 oddesys are having tranny problems, and the auto h22 preludes have transmission problems. anyone seeing a pattern here that they ALL have over 200hp.

Thanks for all the replies..
Is it a possibility that people are messing up their sport shift tranny by shifting while their foot is on the throttle? To my understanding when you shift in the sport shift you have to take your foot off just as in a manual car.

I have had zero problems with my 02 auto rsx
only thing i can think of is the timing
once you shift up it takes a second to change gears.
