id figure the base would be faster considering it would be lighter in weight...

Fits with boltons shouldn't be racing anyone

Seriously though, everything being equal, I'd say the base should win due to weight. However it's only a 39lbs difference.

unless its through some twisties. The sport would have the advantage due to the wider wheels. thats the only thing i can think of.

Yeah but what is the actual difference in the contact patch from the 175-65-14 vs. the 195-55-15?

all the similarities are in the engine in comparison to both the sport and base model fits. the differences are in the exterior and wheels. driving on steelies and hubcabs instead of alloy wheels makes a difference in weight but also the weight of the driver should play a role. i had 4 grown *** men in the car and i definately felt the lag in power with all that mass.

i dont think the cars have enough power to spin the tires with 175's or 195's. so, the lighter 175's would help with decreasing rotational/unsprung mass and help the car be faster.

also, i have researched it before and found that the regular is something like .1 seconds faster in the quarter.

Easily could be the driver, though.

Most likely, they're going to perform nearly idendtically. Really; 40 lbs. isn't going to make much difference at all.

Exterior differences include the wheels and the lip kit (rear spoiler as well)

I don't think the price difference is worth it. I would rather buy my own rims, lip kit, and ipod plug in and spend less while making look a little different from all the other Fits on the road.

I am not knocking the sport at all, but there is nothing really "sporty" about it in relation to the base Fit.

LOL, I can definitely spin the shitty LRR econo-tires on my Base Fit, not intentionally either. In the rain it gets even worse. My snow tires are more grippy on dry pavement than the stock tires

you pay for the rims, lip kit, spoiler, better stereo system with the aux jack, and keyless entry and alarm*which was the sellin point for me.

Stock Tires are garbage! I've autoxed mine 4 times. I have an 08 sport, it was unbearable 1 tire fire with the stock tire. I drove it again with 13x8's and Kumho V710's it handled amazing it went anywhere I wanted it to but lacked power when slowing in second for tight corners, finally I put it in Hstock with Falken Azenis I've taken 2nd to an old civic hatch twice. Another member or my autox club had previously driven a base automatic and thought the Fit was an awful car, he has since changed his opinion after being introduced to the manual....doesn't the sport have slightly stiffer springs? Anyways it's a blast to autox despite being a grocery getter.
