Just wondering which will cool better, an oem junk yard dual core, or an ebay no name $40-$60 aluminum single core radiator? Making 400whp but dont really want to spend $300+ for a koyo rad, already spent a lot on this setup. Thanks!
I got the $50/shipped ebay one, 1" single core (double thick) and it worked fine. Given the fact many people neglect their coolant system, the used oem may be too corroded to conduct heat as well compaired to even a crappy ebay one. As long as a radiator will hold over 17psi at 230F and not leak, it will be good for at least a few thousand miles. The good thing is you'll be able to tell if it blows, and you'll have some time toshut down.
I would check out the how much you want to spend first. Then find out what you can get as far as price goes. Then look at each one from the most expensive to the cheapest. Then decide which one or two would you feel safe using after spending all this money to make 400hp. I had a Del Sol Dual core and was not running anywhere near 400hp. This radiator was fine and never gave any problems, but I think that would be enough. But just look around some and see what you find.

Yes a Del Sol Radiator will fit without any modifications. I am not sure, but I was told that the Del Sol Si Radiator is dual core and the EG Civic automatic radiator is also dual core.
I have the automatic radiator and I can confirm it is dual core. Also, when you look inside the radiator from the fill cap, you should see two rows of those rectangular tubes - thats how you tell if it is dual core. I have never had any overheating problems with my radiator even on extreme hot days and revving to like 7k rpm.
I'd say if you wanna save money but want reliability and a peace of mind go with the Del Sol Si or Civic EG auto radiator...

OEM dual-core half-width worked for me until I started racing on road courses (408 WHP turbo B16), then I had to upgrade. I picked up a $400 Fluidyne, and it really does the job, temps stayed rock-steady at the track. I also bought a $99 ebay special aluminum radiator for my air/water intercooler and there's a huge difference in quality of the materials and workmanship between it and the Fluidyne. I'd save up some extra $ and get something nice, keeping your motor at the right temperature is important.
