Default Pro 2's IN stock B16A.

Hi all,
A friend of mine had set of skunk 2 cams, few days back i asked him if he want to sell them to me,

He said yes, Cams with valve train complete for 500$
I had in mind that they are skunk 2 stage 2, which he keep saying all the time,
but when i saw them they i was surprised that they where skunk 2 pro 2's in BOxes.

I dont have any other option in Cam except for them, My motor is currently bone stock,
with I/E and 2.25 piping. ef3 civic.

If i install them in my car will i find any gain with them,

I have a friend who runs a H22a in Ek, which is also stock, i raced him few times and i was 3 car behind from him, his 1/4 mile timing is 13.5.
I just want my car faster them him,

please advice me regarding the situation,

thanks,
Salman

The PRO2 is too big for your motor. Just sell it

Forget them. But I'd still advise buying them at that price.

Should'nt be hard to find someone to trade you a suitable set of cams.

Or you could alway's build a nice 2.0l bottom end and take advantage of them

I am curious as to why they will not work, other than needing a good tunable ECU.

those cams make power high end and you will probably need pistons and bottom end for it work right.

I have 01 ITR cams I will trade you. ITR cams and ITR dual valve springs/retainers.

Otherwise keep them and get RS 11.5:1 cams and flat-faced valves to raise comp. up a little.

Or buy them and send them to me for my S2 Stg2 cams lol.

Cams are killer but you will need a bit more compression to get the most out of them although I imagine they will still make decent top end over stock with stock pistons.

If you are trying to get your compression up for cheap you can trim about .040" from the head. This is only safe with a stock thickness head gasket. Be on the safe side and check clearances.
Cam gears are a must for S2P2's anyways.

If you are determined to use the pro2's you could probably make more power by retaining the stock pistons, getting some decent headwork and playing with lobe centerlines until you find something that works. I wouldnt shave the head, or install higher CR pistons since that will lessen the amount you can play with the gears. I would check V2V, find out what your max safe adjustments are.

With a small motor with ultra aggressive cams, RPM + Cyl. Head flow + Cam timing > static CR.

I agree but I assume he is on a strict budget, why else would there be a need to retain the b16a bottom end.

A cut from the head and a decent valve job sould cost you around $200. Fast and easy, poke the throat and 3 angle from a high quality serdi or similar should get you where it will produce power on a budget.

FYI When i said decent headwork, i just meant a 3 angle VJ with the bottom cut blended into the throat.

would I find any advantage?

If your other mods work well with 9k in mind, then yes.

Is that Ichigo in your avatar?
