Default Civic SI & Base RSX

This has probrably been brought up over 100 times already, but I've gotta ask anyway. Is the 02-05' Civic SI engine the same engine that's in the 02-05' Base RSX? If so, are the same upgrades for one the same for the other? Thanx -

they are both k20a3 engines
the si > base rsx for the whole package imo
no offense to base owners

I agree, If your gonna spend a **** load, just spend a little more and get the type-s. youll be way happier when you think about it in the long run.

It is the same engine, k20a3. However the Ep shares the same IM as the k20a2 and responds better to bolt ons in the high end. But, with the different IM the base rsx has about 6ftlbs more of low end torque.

The gearing is also slightly different on the Ep, not sure about 1-4 but i know the final drive is the different for sure.

Never having driven an Ep cant tell you which one is better, but my 03 Base Rsx 5spd was an awesome car which i miss to this day.

Just bought an 07 Tc 5spd a few days ago

Thought about another rsx, but wanted somethin different. Been exactly a year since Ive had it. Plus for the price of a used rsx the Tc was brand new, with a whole lot more features.

Main difference in the whole motors is the tranny. RSX base model has slighty dif. gearing then the Si.

i used to have a base rsx, i was happy with it, but ended up trading it in for the type s just b/c it is a little more fun to drive, but back to your question, the headers are interchangeable for the base and si, thats the only thing im aware of b/c i remember on the box of my dc sport header it said for "rsx base and civic si"

I drive a base auto '03 RSX. Just started modding it.. you think its worth modding at all, just because its auto? Everyone tells me to upgrade but I suck at driving stick.

just turbo it
not saying that a base auto is completely worthless
any car can be made into a beast
just depends on how much money you want to spend
