Default ground control sleeve sizes

im confused because i got a set of ground controls for bilstein shocks (ordered koni)....but ground control tells me that all i need is the adapters to fit koni shocks

But i thought the sleeves for Konis were diffrant (not just diffrant adapters)

whats the truth

There isn't much info about the bilstein version of the GC sleeves on here (from what I remember). You should probably just go with the spacers that GC told you would work. If you still don't trust that, you can just order the smaller Koni sleeves and nuts and sell your bilstein sleeves & nuts on here or ebay. That is what I did with my standard GC sleeves...

i thought there was a smaller sleeve (for konis)....i was asking the guy at ground control and he said it was just a adapter/spacer

i dont really want any getto rigged stuff

the sleeves i have are 1/4" maybe even 1/2" larger diamiter then the shock body

Yes the Koni style sleeves are a smaller diameter. You can use the larger sleeves you already have by purchasing adapters that GC sells to make them work on the smaller Koni shock body. Thats what he is trying to tell you. It's not ghetto or anything. It's just an adapter. You can also purchase the smaller sleeves if you so desire, but you will also need smaller nuts...

they do have adapater rings that work fine, but the smaller sleeves are better IMO.

If you bought them through a dealer then take it up with them.

custom valved? i was pretty sure that the only real vavling they offered on the yellows was the SPSS3 for hondas? is that what you got?

Thats for sure. The wider tubes can make contact with the coil which rubbs off part of the threads. Took 5 years for me to notice and it wasn't bad. I don't have to worry about it with the smaller tubes...

i was really looking forward to puttin them on...one of the first things i did when i got home was open up my koni and ground control boxes.

The i just wanted to put them together to just see them complete...i was bummed when i slid the sleeves over the konis......I was like W T F there like half inch to big.....

anyone know a shop that would order me just the sleeves for konis (and perches)

If your sleeves were new, just contact the place you bought them from. They should stock the Koni version as well since it's very common. Your gonna have send back the other sleeves though. If the shop you ordered them from won't help, just contact GC directly. They are great guys and will help you out...

Where did you get the ground control kit? Was it used or new? The sleeves should have come with black poly spacers that fit between the threaded sleeve and the shock body. If the Tein shocks are anything like OEM shocks, then you don't need any adapters...

PS: You never mentioned what model "Tein suspension" you've got. They make about 8 different setups for the CRX & Civic. Thats not much for anybody to go on...

It might be best for you to post some pictures of everything you have...

No offense, but this thread has nothing to do with Tein or EG hatches. I suggest your start your own thread rather than cluttering up this one.

i got the adapters for free and im gonna install them tomarrow, so i can finally feel the greatness i hear so much about these KONI/GC setups...

Im also trying them with the adapters so i can fine tune my ride height (gettin the upper shock mounts extended)

Im still waiting for word on the smaller ground control sleeves...im trying to order them without springs
