My friend wants to get an 89-91 Civic Hatchback. He needs my help to buy one without problems so what should I look for? What are some problem areas or bad signs in 89-91 hatches?

 

Rust and non replaceable body panel damage (rear 1/4's, roof, undercarriage) check things like door and rear hatch alignment. Check the paint in the door jams near the hinges and fender bolts. Most everything else can be replaced easily.

If you are really in SIBIU RO then you should be able to find some cool EDM cars in Germany maybe?

Im from Romania but I live in Oregon now. I was there this summer for a month and saw a few hondas, but they were all EDM. It was pretty tight.

What I said applies to USDM cars too good luck. If you look around long enough you'll find a deal. Don't jump too soon or go for something on e-bay

 

It was for a frined, but it had some issues with iddling, and the guy said it was a 88 with 140k miles, but the speedo cable was unplugged.

 

Mileage doesn't matter if you're looking for a project, but if you're looking for a daily driver then be careful

 

all i have to tell ya is check infront of the rear wheels make sure theres not rust on the rockers if so there is probly damage to where the rear suspension mounts up. iv seen several with rocker rust and they all had damage to the suspension
