Default Accord 2005 30K Schedule Maintaincne & problem - Need help

Hi

I know there are some schedule maint. needs to be done on every major 20,30, 40k. I checked the manual and they said i need to change/replace dust or pollen filter and air cleaner Element..

Can someone tell me that can I just change that in my local car mechanic.? Do I have to go to dealer?

Also I have bad high speed vibration in the steering. I balanced the tired already and still there little bit. I called the dealers and they said its mostly onthe tires or the rims and not else.. What do you say ? I might have a bad rim i guess..

Is there something else like steering and axe joint problem or sort ? Please help with your valuable info.. I would appreciate it..

sure your local friendly mechanic should be able to change those filters for you.
You might want to try a slow speed roll thru a smooth parking lot and try to 'feel' if you have a lumpy tire.
Isn't your car also under the Recall for the fuel pump relay?

The air filter and pollen filter can be changed by your local mechanic. The air filter, well you should know where that is, and the pollen filter is behind the glove box.

As for the vibration. Have your mechanic check out the rotors and/or brake pads. Brake pads are suggested at 30k. It is very possible that a rotor may be warped. But also check the tread life on the tires. Re-balancing the tires might not fix the problem. There could be what is called a shifted belt in one of them. Try rotating tires front to back to see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks guys..

I had some big dents on the rim, I am guess it might have caused it.. I did rotate the tires in 20k and from that time onwards I been feeling it. I balanced them immediately. It was better since then but it didn't go away. It comes and goes.. I been check it when driving.. I vibrates when I go above 80 sometimes and not other times.. I am really confused..

So I am guessing may be both my front tires which I am planning to rotate back to back side in 30k will give me a good ride but it won't solve the problem.

They did check the brakes and rotars in 20k and it was good but I felt that time itself. So do you think it might be more of the rim which is been dent causing this .. I don't see any lump in the tires.. Please sugest me..

Also do I have to change the air element and pollen filters or I can do it in 40K ? Can I do it myself or the mechanic can do without much charge if I buy it ? How much are they cost really..

Thanks for the reply again..

How big is the dent in the rim? Is it on the inside or the outside of the rim? Does the tire seal well?

You can go to majestic honda for prices and parts. And they arent really important to change out right away. Just keep an eye out for how dirty the engine air filter gets. The pollen filter isn't truly necessary.

Part #6 On both drawings are the filters you need. Easy to replace, you can probably do it yourself.

Medium ones on the side of it.. I think it some sidewalk hard when I parked.. I guess the tire seals well..

Thanks on the info for the filters.. I don't think I have tools to check the air engine filter. If its easy to check by hand, I would check to see how dirty it is, otherwise i would have to ask the mechanic to check

Thanks again
