96 accord ex transmission issue...
Hey guys, first time in the accord section of honda-tech. My brother has a 96 accord EX and is experiencing some transmission problems. Whenever he's turning onto another road, or needs to step on it to pull out in traffic or something, the car doesn't seem to go into gear (seems like the transmission is slipping). It takes a second and then kicks in really hard.
He took it to a reliable mechanic, and was told the computer was reading that he needed a torque converter. The mechanic then said that he didn't trust the reading and that it sounded like something else. At this point, it's just an annoyance. It hasn't gotten worse, and obviously isn't getting better.
My question's to you are, is this a torque converter? or something else? and, is this a common problem with the transmissions of accords in these years?
Thanks in advance guys
