Aiiiite who got busted for 142 the other day?
N.Y. State Troopers: Driver Clocked at 142 mph
BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A man driving on an interstate highway apparently needed to get somewhere fast -- really fast -- when he was clocked by troopers doing 142 mph in a 64-mph zone.
Michael Maciejewski, 24, of Litchfield, Conn., was ticketed for a traffic violation for speeding southbound in Brewster on Interstate 684, Sgt. Joseph Malorgio of the state police said on Tuesday.
Troopers using a high-tech radar that can read license plates 1,000 feet away thought they might have a high speed chase, state police said. But the 2001 Acura pulled over as soon as the patrol car turned on its lights, they said.
Maciejewski has an April 24 court date, Malorgorio said. Maciejewski could not be reached for comment Wednesday morning because his telephone number was unlisted.
IB it was an ITR!!!

Jeez, i rather take my chances and give them the burden of proof who was driving the car, they wouldn't have a strong case.

and you would have to prove you WERENT driving the car. and if you werent, who was and where are they? etc.
Im amazed he wasnt arrested in thrown in jail on the spot????

Where the hell is there a 64 MPH zone???
And it's not necessarily a Type-R, there are plenty of Acuras capapble of doing 142.

WTF??
<--keeps it at limit or 5 above on NYS Interstates, troopers are getting quite cunning.

RTW came to mind..lol
yeah 684 is always covered w/ troopers, yet people still fly by if your doing 75-80 mph.
I'm suprised he wasn't arrested on the spot.

Have to admit... it is so tempting to speed on 684. Very rarely you get such a traffic free highway in L. West. I do remember traps at/near the rest stops (I think exit 6 and 8).

Yeah, but having a V1 only tells me how quick the troopers are to nail me. More and more are using LADAR when set up in speed traps....no warning there. Recently, I was coming home at night and a car was approaching, V1 was setup and working, when he was about 50 yards away he finally turned on his Ka RADAR and lit up the V1. I was doing the limit though, that area is a notorious speed trap. Hick towns have to buy their street lights somehow
Funny, I actually drive slower since I've gotten the V1...

You just have to pay attention to the "blips" up ahead. Every blip I get, I check speed. He is using an instant on technique which works great for them, but if you pick up a quick blip, then another... it's most likely what he's doing up ahead.
I never really drive fast for a period of time. maybe a trip up to 100 on the interstate once in a while. I'm ususally only doing 10 over on the HWY. Around town, it's mostly 5 over.
V1 for me is just an added layer.

That's what I thought, too. The story, which came through the Associated Press to news outlets all over, mentions the limit as 65 mph in some places (e.g. Hartford Courant) and 64 mph in others (e.g. WCBS-TV New York).

If they are using instant-on, and if they don't use it on someone speeding up ahead of you to give you a warning, even a V1 won't help. But it does provide an added layer of protection if either of those "ifs" doesn't apply. And they're not likely to pull you over if you're doing less than 10 over the limit, just about anywhere. If you're doing 77 over, different story.

its because the road can have NO TRAFFIC at all some times during the day, and its like 4-5 lanes wide in places, with long bends and hils and curves. like an extra wide nurburgring (sp). and most ppl that drive that road seem to be cruising well above the limit. its a fun road lol
no radar or laser detector is going to help at 142mph. you need a scrambler/jammer.
