Default fuel tank issues/questions

the specs on my car said the tank is a 13 gallon tank, but my fuel light went on at 10 gallons. so how much gas do i have after the light clicks on? does it really have 13 gallons, or what. i thougt that after the light kicks on you only have 1 gallon of gas left? so whats the real deal

I believe it's 13.2 gallons.

The gauge is not accurate enough to rely on for an absolute reading. It's only an approximation. The low fuel light may come on next time with only 2 gallons left, 1 gallon, or three gallons. My light came on while I was on the way to work one time, the needle on empty. After work, the light was out and the needle was reading just above the "E". I doubt anyone put gas in my car.

from what i have noticed is that gas tanks either have their sensor in the front or the back of the gas tank. For those that live in places with a lot of hills may see that their gas gauge goes up and down depending on whether they're driving uphill or downhill. Same with bridges.
