Wet Sanding NBP
I have a 2001 ITR in NBP and was wondering if anyone has tried to wet sand the factory "orange peel" out of the paint? thinking maybe the paint may be too thin to risk it? Anyone have any experience to share?
wet sanding doesn't effect paint. you are sanding just the clearcoat. only thing that will come out is surface scratches. the factory orange peel look is under the clear. you might be able to make it less noticeable but I'm not sure if it will make it go away.

100% WRONG if you wetsand too much you will go through the clear and into the color, if you do this the finish will fade and look like complete **** in that area. be very carefull when wetsanding clear on factory paint becuase its extremely thin. i would suggest taking it to a pro, if anything happens they are responsible not you.
orange peel is usually found in the clear hence the light reflecting in different angles replicating orange peelings fyi. if it was in the color and you sanded the clear, how would that make it less noticable in your statement? cut polishing gets rid of surface scratches, or even just a hand wax if they're light. PLEASE dont give advice on wetsanding of all procedures, if you dont know anyting about it, you could cost someone lots of money.

the orange peel he is talking about is not orange peel. it is the texture of the paint when it is put on from the factory. Hondas don't come from the factory with orange peel sorry to inform you. but every honda I've seen at the dealer for the past 7 years has had a almost factory orange peel look but its in the paint, not the clear coat. factory clear isn't that thin unless your an idiot who doesn't know how to sand. you have to try to go threw it pretty hard by staying in one spot. anyone who's looking for advice on wet sanding should obviously know how to sand first, it's not something you just try out without knowing.

depends, on a light car like champ white, it helps because the wax cleans the dirt out of the fine scratches and they become less noticable, on a black car, it might help take out the spider web like scratches caused by washing, if you use a good wax.

sorry i dont read minds and i cant really tell when "the orange peel hes talking about isnt orange peel".. he asked about orarnge peel. and your opinion of the clearcoat not being thin is exactly that, an opinion. when you get your car painted aftermarket, theres usually going to be more clear than factory.. my reason for calling it "thin"
