Default gsr oil in cylinder 2

mmk. so i changed my spark plugs today and i noticed a few issues. first of all, my spark plug in cylinder number 2 had a small amount of oil around it's threads. i'm assuming that the rings are busted. also, the spark plugs were very gray on the ends. that means i'm running a little too lean right? anyway... my question is about rebuilding. wondering if i could just buy a set of type r pistons and rods and drop them in. and if so how much and how long would it take. my other option of course would b to just buy the type R long block and ecu and drop that in. i really need my car everyday so i dunno if having it rebuilt is really a choice cuz i don't really know anything about it. i don't want to b without a car for a week or more... i'm assuming more than likely just buying the type r long block is my only option...

Well.... if nobody has any estimate of what the rebuilds cost and time will b then can someone at least tell me how to keep the engine from running to lean for the time being? I guess ima just go with a long block, but I need to save up some money...

The oil could just be from the spark plug tube seal, $2. Don't always assume the worst.

Well, the wires are the ones that came with the car, and the plugs were some NGK, I dun member what kinda, I threw them away... but I put in some NGKs that were a step colder just becuz... I just bought the car a month ago and figured I might aswell change the plugs. The car has 155k miles on it, 1995. It was just a small amout of oil around the plugs threads but I'll look into the tube seal. Anyone wanna tell me how to keep from running lean??

its just your spark plugs seals. buy a valve cover gasket kit and replace all the seals. thats all it is. put some new NGK iridium plugs in and you'll be fine. hondas run a little lean anyways so its nothing to worry about.

do a compression test if ur worried about things.

dont just change the plugs, and a step colder, no--switch back to factory rating. if i was u, since u bought it a month ago, do a full tune-up, not half ***. replace: spk plugs/wires, dist cap/rotor, perform a valve adj n replace the valve cover gasket and spk plug tube seals as well. also replace the fuel filter, too. goodluck

Why use Iridium plugs? I have the NGK coppers ($2 each) which are the OEM recommended plugs, and have never had a problem with them. I swap them out every 50K miles just to be a baller. 303K miles and counting, running like a charm.

they're just platinum plugs... they were $3 a piece... only cold rating of 6. the guy i bought it from did most that that stuff... i did a valve adjustment already. i bought some tube seals yesterday of the net, should get them next week. i suppose i'll replace the rest of the ignition stuff after i pay my credit card bill...
o yeah, and thx for the info/help guys. lot cheaper than buying a new engine, lol
