just looked at pg 282, i think what your lookin at is how much oil the engine holds, obviously you cannot get all the oil out of ur engine when u change the oil, so if you put in 5.5 and u got 1.2 left in the engine..u have a total of 6.7 qt's of oil in ur car... now how many of us know what happens when u have too much oil in ur car? show of hands...

yeah but when you let it sit on a post lift till it doesn't even drip anymore then it does take almost 5.5qrts which is what i ALWAYS do and even when i do it at home i will lower the car back on the ground let it all drip out

there is still plenty of oil stuck to your crank and every other major part of your motor. it is more dangerous to run a quart high then a quart low regarding oil level. obviously neither is good but i do not recommend putting in 5.5 qts if the oil change reccomend 4.6. if you feel like it put in a fill 5 but leave it at that.

i have let me quad motor (single cylinder, 5 valve 450cc) motor drip for 2-3 days. i put the plug back in for 2-3 days then pulled it again and to my surprise it flowed out before going back to a drip.

my point...follow the 4.6 rule

I called the dealer and they looked it up in the computer and told me 4.4 quarts. I do the same thing and lower the car to get all the oil out, not much came out. I always do this when the engine is warm.

checked out the owners manual pg 227 it says 4.6 including filter, damn!!! thats messed up putting 5.5 quarts, wheres the logic????

thanks for your help guys, i need to put a little more.

go by what the manual says.

if it states 4.4 or whatever then do that. sometimes they have two different #'s. one for an oil change with filter and one with an oil change and NO filter change. i dont have my SI yet so i dont know.

but do not fill it by going off the "oil capacity" # which sounds like 5.5 from above. 4.5 qts and check it after a few miles and cool down to make sure your right at or a hair below the second dot

The answer is 4.6L as stated in the manual and everywhere else. I, however, usually put in 5 quarts when I change the oil because 4.6 still appears as "low" on the dipstick.

the true answer is fill it up till it is in between the 2 dots on the dip stick

it will take what ever it needs to fill it up so anywhere from 4.4 to 5.something

if you think our car requires 5.5 quarts of oil and have to ask a bunch of people to find out it takes 4.6 i dont think you should be changing it. Bring it to the dealer

Are asking if a 4 door car with a K20z3 motor has the same capacity as a 2 door car with K20z3 motor? If that is your question then I believe the asnwer is YES. The common factor is the K20z3 motor.
