HELP!!! DEL SOL VTECH QUESTION!!!
Alright is there anyway you can tell if a 96 Honda DEL SOL is a Vtec or non V-tec, just by looking at the body or outside of the car?

if i put a vtec valve cover on a d16y7 will it have vtec ? NO you have to look at the top right corner of the valve cover and look for a selenoid sticking out of there

are u asking if its the vtec model or just a model with vtec?
If it is a del sol with vtec but not necessarily the "vtec" model
will have rear disk brakes, power mirrors, rear sway bar.

first off u cant put a sohc vtec valve cover on a non-vtec motor because of the holes for the spark plugs are not the same and the si and vtec models both came with alloys, 4wheel disk brakes and rear sway bar. and eg2 is just a body code for its a del sol
or you could just look at which side of the valve cover has the spark plugs.
spark plugs in front by exhaust manifold=vtec
spark plugs in back by intake manifold=non vtec
and if theyre in the middle= its a b16a3 and yes thats vtec too
and if you want to get technical... the del sol s came with the non-vtec single cams, the del sol si's had single cam vtec's in them (the z6 and i believe there was another, perhaps the 8?), and the actual del sol VTEC came with the b16a3 dohc vtec

from the outside the easiest way to tell is to see if it has 4 wheel disc brakes, the Del Sol S has rear drums. (unless modified by the owner) i believe this is true for all years but i may be wrong.

just look at the tach....the VTEC model has it at 8200 RPM, will have disk brakes and much more easily notice will have a rear anti-roll bar (13mm)
It will also have a VTEC DOHC sticker on the upper right corner of the trunk lid.

true but how can u tell dif btween eg2 and eh6?
btw to add eg1= Del Sol S (SOHC nonVTEC)
