as always , i warmed up the car last week for a good ten minutes or so , got out on to the freeway , put my foot down , coming to 5500rpms vtec kicks in and nothing , the spoon box just died out ,no sound at all !!, all the noise im hearing is the aem v2 up front , the n1 has lost all it's guts ... its only 6 months old ..!!!

ive tried cleaning the air filter
changed the spark plugs
cleaned out the throttle body
and a oil and filter change

its a b16a2 by the way dc 4-1 manifold , aem v2 induction , spoon n1 back box, oem cat pipe and oem b pipe ,

when the vtec engages the exhaust note has just completly died out ,
b4 it's like BBBBRRAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW ......... compared to a
brrrraaaaaaaaaaaa %$^&&$$ as it is today ...

any suggestions guys .....

 

whats a back box..

 

never heard of a spoon n1 back box, but i have heard of a spoon n1 rear section...

 

spoon n1 back box , rear section , rear muffler ,

 

are you sayin that the vtec is gone???

 

No his exhaust tone isnt louder than his intake.

 

check your muffler bearings

maybe your cars ***** got lodged inside your canister and its actually being a muffler for once in its life instead of a ******* coffe can
in all honesty it is one of two things seriously something is cloging up your pipes from a potato to carbon build up take of your exhaust and run a wire through all the pipes to see if something is stopping airflow

its all in your head after a while the exhaust seems top get quieter but its all in your head when i bought my ek i gunned it and could swear it was louder than when i ripped that peice of **** off and put in the stock one but everybody else said it was as loud as it always was and for the record even when my freind had an apexi N1 in his teg i still heard the motor screaming over the exhaust in the higher rpm range so iunno i think you are going loco SIR

 

thats exactly what i thought about me getting used to my exhaust note so i got few people in my car and even they have noticed that the exhaust note has gone , it's ssoooo quiet ..!!! all the noise i hearing is the v2 up front ..

JHONNY RICER believe me ive cleaned my ear outs , and have a had a good listen, the note has defitnaly gone , well for a 6month old spoon box i aint that impressed , i paid top dollar for this and i expect it to be up for the job ..

i dont think the pipe is cloging up , if i put my hand over the tip of the exhaust there is penty of pressure to push my hand off, no banana's or potatoes in the way ..

 

I'm on my 3rd Spoon N1. Every single one of them is loud as hell! Two of my other friends have them. One is a stock DC5, still pretty loud. The other is a EK w/ SiR-G swap, stock b-pipe, no cat. His is loud.
Not sure what's wrong with yours. You must have bad luck. We've all had ours about two years and still loud.

So what I think Spoon*EK9 is saying is they tend to be loud!

Spoon EK9 was it on your car at Thunderhill? I dont remember your car being that loud.

 

Has there been a power loss along with the sound loss????

lmao.. it's your muffler bearings. when you bought your spoon exhaust they came with jdm muffler bearings, switch out your usdm bearings for the jdm ones. they might not drive as good, but there good at math.

 

either muffler bearings are shot or the turn signal fluid drained into the cat.. somewhere along the line probaby messing up your flux capacitor. get urself a left handed screwdriver and poke around the cat to see if u see anything unusual. that's my best guess.

^^ exatcly what i was thinking if you still have the power than be happy you wont get pulled over for a loud exhaust lol maybe your vtec is not engaging at all thats why it doesnt get louder??? good luck

 

no power loss at all , vtec kicks in fine , the only thing that came with the n1 was a silencer, it sounds like the silencer is on full time , no grunt of vtec at all ,

sounds like carbon build up

but it might not be the rear, could be at the cat, or even the manifold

id check your cat, because more than likely that will go bad first

 

there is a muffler bearing

but thats funny

Yeah, it was on my car with the silencer. It probably didn't sound loud to you if you were in your car. I know I couldn't hear anyone else's car that much b/c of the interior noise from mine! What were you driving?

hahahaha-rolmfao, im sorry but if you dont know basic parts of your car, i wouldn't recomend you working on it. n1's are loud and mine has been since i got it 8 months ago

Was not driving. A Buddy of mine was out there in a CRX. I was just out there to watch and kind of get back into the swing of things. I have not built a car since 02/03. Just picked up another EK hatch to build. Recognized your car from H-T.

I would love to pick up one of the spoon N1's but being pretty silent is a must for me right now. Does the N1 have a silencer?
