coilover options in the $900-1100 range
They must be in the price range, have to be height and damper adjustable and I dont want to piece together a setup like Koni/GC. I dont need 10000-way adjustability, but dont want to be "stuck" at a certain height or stiffness. If you can mention spring/damper rate options that would be great too.
Right now Im leaning toward the PIC Selects 12f/14k, but before I commit Id like to know what my other options are and your opinions on them. They are going to replace my current worn out stock shocks and H&R Sport springs, and be used on the road course and drag strip. The car is not a daily driver so I am not too concerned with a harsh ride.
EDIT: PICs came in today, heres a pic and some comments. Installed these and a set of traction bars (not pictured). Super nice units, install and adjustment is cake. I wish it had some brake line brackets though.
Wanted to lower the car a bit but think I went just a tad too low. There isnt enough suspension travel with it this low on full soft (bottoms out the bumpstops) so you have to run the harder settings in order not to bottom out, but that makes it a bit rough on some back roads. Ill probably raise it about an inch so I can run softer with no bottoming out.

fyi, high springs rates doesn't always equal a harsh ride...
if the shock is correctly valve, the ride is actually quite comfortable even with the high springs rates
its when you get a cheap undervalved shock that can't handle the spring rates that you get that POS ride

I know that johnny tran
but even with correctly valved dampers and high spring rates I would assume its slightly more "harsh" than stock. Ive never really had a nice set of aftermarket coilovers so I dont have much first hand experience to compare to.
anyway lets see some options! id like to order these TODAY if possible.

I think it would be a crap shoot at that price. There are plenty of options ie: Omni, F2, D2, KSport, AMR, etc, but I have no experience with any of those. Some people like them and others say they are ****. Mostly because the damper isn't valved properly according to the spring rate. However, the AMR thread in the Suspension Sale section said that every one of their sets were valved differently according to the spring rate. It seemed promising. I looked into them last year but a set of Spoon N1's fell into my lap and I wouldn't trade them for any other set up.
This has probably been said before but trying to get a set up that is ideal for drag AND the road course might be a liitle tricky since the demand for each form of driving is different.
I can definitely give a recommendation but it would exceed your desired price range.

You're done right there. No more shopping needed. Order them, be done with it, and be happy.
Simple.
John- who's loves his PIC's and won't used anything else. BTW- I've also run, Teins RA's, Buddy Clubs, Bilsteins and Tokicos... they all sucked when compared to the PIC's.

Try the 12kF/10kR, I think you'll be happy.

yes, I realize there is no optimal setup for both street, road course and drag. I am just looking for a happy medium. Anthing is better than what I have now. And I realize my price range is also probably in the middle of the pack, so just looking for different options that are available in that range.

i believe it helps the car rotate better. However, it can be dangerous on the street or for an unexperienced driver.

partially for drag, partially for rotation since Im on stock sway bars anyway and no plans to upgrade them.

I'm also currently researching a coilover setup in this price range and I am definately leaning toward the PICs.
I feel dumb asking this but is PIC pronounced Peak or Pee Eye See?

haha
if i wanna do that i'll dial the stiffness on my shocks on the rear up to full and then lift off in the middle of a corner
thanks for the answers though, i just didn't think people would want such a permanent solution as having the springs like that

you can still control it with dampening adjustments in the rear as far as I know. the stiffer springs will just make for an overall stiffer ride but you can still control the dampening.
I ordered the PICs
I hope you guys dont disappoint me
