1st time AutoXing my Fit
I raced Regionally this weekend. I did not go to KC for the 2 day event because of the forecast of rain. The local course was small with one straight at the beginning and the end which didn't compliment the Fit whatsoever. I would guess I lost 3-4 seconds out of staying competitive in PAX because of this. The Avon Tech RAs stuck to the pavement nicely. They're a little on the heavy side for R comps IMO which did affect acceleration. The Fit handled quite well regardless with a lot less bodyroll than you would think. I won my class against only one other car...a '90 Celica GT on Victoracers.
I had a lot of problems with the manual sportshifting. I haven't looked into it much yet, but it seems it wants to upshift in some situations (maybe if you hit the rev limiter a couple times???).
Is the Fit the car to have in HS? No, but I'm sure most people could still win Regionally and have fun doing so. I truly wish there was a more powerful version available. Even 20-30 hp would make this a different car. Maybe a Fit Si or Type R???
I had a good time. Driving the car was so easy. It really goes where you point it. The balance of the car is front heavy...so much to the point you don't even seem to use the back tires much. This is probably due to the fact the gas tank is mounted under the front seats. It lacks the power to really get you in trouble too much. I tried my best to throw it around like I've done with previous cars I've raced and couldn't get it out of whack. Even so it drives great on course and doesn't feel like it's understeering to the point it's not fun.

CG Lock (best $35 I've spent on AutoX)
205/50/15 Avon Tech RAs wrapped around 15x6 OEM Fit Sport wheels
Final thoughts...this car needs lighter wheels and tires. I don't know what other race tires weigh, but I weighed the Avon Techs at 23 lbs each. There aren't many choices to run lighter aftermarket wheels due to the Fit Sport's high 55mm offset. Keep in mind the R comps run wide and slightly rubbed the rear shock dust boots. I would recommend to run at least a 3mm spacer.
I'm not sure if I'll run this car again. I'm on the fence about it. The lack of acceleration was a bit dissapointing for someone who's starting his 8th season of Solo. I'm sure there are other courses that would compliment the car more, but the one I ran wasn't one of them. Don't let that shy you away from racing your Fit. You'll have fun! Just remember to keep your expectations low if you're used to much faster cars.
Now for some pics and vids...
Ready for action

I messed with tire pressures all day and couldn't get the rears some work

At least my passenger seems to like it. LOL

I've often thought the Fit with paddle shifters would be a blast to drive with another 30-40hp.
I was surprised it does hit rev limiter when using Sport mode. The Preludes with the triptronic trans would shift for you at red line. I've noticed you have to tap the paddle a couple hundred rpms before redline or you'll tap rev limiter.
I'd like to auto-x mine sometime.

If you want lighter wheels I suggest going with some GRAMLIGHTS ... Also , I'd invest in better suspension .. Full coil-overs maybe. Jackson Racing has a new kit for our FIT's. I believe it boosts at 6 psi and with full piping , intake and headers i'm sure you'll hit around 160-180 WHP. Try that setup and I'm sure you'll have a blast AutoXing
Almost the same as dropping a RSX-S engine into the fit. Imagine that!
Let's be realistic though , with our 90-100 HP to the crank stock engine.. You cant really expect much

No offense, but I don't think 6psi of blower on the L15, even comes close to a bone stock RSX-S swap power/torque-wise. Now I may be wrong, because I haven't done a full spec comparison on the two setups, but I just don't see it being "almost the same."

Your right , I'm sure the K20 will have way much more torque. I don't have the specifics or any dyno sheets on a supercharged L15 versus a K20Z1 or any other K20 fit. But yeah , It was just a ball-park approx.
But case in point , imagine a 160-200 whp FIT.
I do happen to know of a fit that will be supercharged soon. His estimate with I/E/H , tuning and the new supercharger is around 150-200whp

I agree. Although, I find that 200rpm or so delay for the tranny is WAY faster than the Sebring with TT. That car was like a 500-750 rpm delay... well, more like you had to anticipate and when it got 500rpm before redline... shift... otherwise that car was an angry bear.

I ran H Stock. Those wheels aren't legal. If I go with some lightweight, illegal wheels my weapon of choice will probably be Enkei RPF1s. I'd be forced into a faster class though.
Trust me...I wasn't expecting too much. I'm confident if the course was a little different I could've PAX'd better than I did.

Nice to hear from you Nelson.
Yes I do wish I had a MT now that you mention it. I searched nationwide at the time I purchased and was lucky to even find a Sport AT.
SC...who knows. Anything is possible.
Somehow I doubt I'll do that being this is my reliable daily driver, but you never know.
I still have a '93 SE-R to mess around with once I get this other engine inspected and dropped in. The great thing is I can dismount these R comps and use them on the SE-R later.
I do miss my previous cars though. Most notably '00 ITR, '92 CX B18C1 hybrid, WRX and STi. I've driven a couple of EVOs and damn do they handle nicely. Point and go like the ITR, but with more power. I guess I'm doing the responsible thing and trying not to spend too much $$.
