problems after intake manifold port match!!!!! help
i have previously searched for the answer and found nothing. heres my delema this weekend i got a b18 throttle body and port matched my d16z6 manifold to it. after words when i started it up it idled fine. i rev-ed it up and i heard this whistling coming from the air filter. when i was putting every thing back together and i forgot to put the lower middle bolt back on. what is causing this whistling? and do i need that one lower middle bolt on the intake manifold.
probably a vacuum leak...
Replace that nut you forgot to put back on and start checking for leaks.
Double check the area at the throttle body/intake manifold, specifically (since it was the area that received work). A quick way to check for leaks there, is to just place a piece of electrical tape over that junction. If its still whistling, keep looking

i took it off last night to see if some how that it was just the air filter and the sound was coming out of the intake manifold(with the air filter off). i have 15 miles to drive home from work tonight do you think that would be enugh to warp it?
could the whistling be caused by the air going over the butterfly on the the TB? I dont see a problem with driving it 15 miles. You said that it idles fine and the only problem is the whislting.

I know set-ups are different but when i had a short air ram intake, from ebay with ebay filter, I had a whistling noise at a certain throttle position, was told it was from the air passing over the butterfly. Just wondering since you said that the whistling noise came from the intake manifold with the air filter off. Can you pinpoint where on the intake manifold it sounds like the whistling is coming from?
yeah it does sound like its coming strait from the throttle body. it idles fine with no whistling but when you get it up to 1900rpm to 3000rpm it whistles. if that is it how do i stop it

if it is just air whistling past the butterfly, there is absolutely no reason to put it back to stock, just learn to live with it.
to my understanding a large vacuum leak would cause a funny idle, but you said it idles fine.

i guess i'll just have to live with it. its very loud too. imight just witch the throttle bodys back. it was a good thing to do even if i didn't get a new throttle body cause my injectors, old intake manny, vac lines, tb, and inside the head were nasty caked on carbon all over it. if any one has any more ideas to keep my new tb and shut it the fuckk up, please tell me

yes i did. im thinking about 2 things, 1- take starting fluid and spray around the intake manifold to find vacuum leaks. 2- take old tb and see if the whistling goes away. If so i'll probley just put it back on cause this is my daily driver. THIS WHISTLING IS ****** KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! any one have any more ideas?
I don't know if I got lucky or not but when I switch from ebay intake to aem intake with K&N filter I can't hear the whistling. Maybe I just don't notice it any or the exhaust hides it, so I will listen for it on my way home and let you know.
The ebay filter is crap and is loud; my friend's accord when he revs it up and drives around, is quite evident that the filter is creating a lot of unnecessary noise..
My k&n filter is quiet except when I go from idle to 3-4k rev or when it's cold and i drive it.

well its not a vacuum leak, i sprayed starting fluid all around it and no leak. im going to try and put the old one back on tomarrow. if that stops it then i will be selling the throttle body to ridin98civic. i will update this tomarrow.
