Default TypeR Tranny/GSR engine

Finally have the cash to get a typeR transmission. I wanted to double check though, is there a preferred year typeR tranny I should get to bolt up to my 96 gsr? I am looking to replace my current gsr tranny with a typeR because I know the typeR has the better 4.7 final drive plus it's own LSD which is key. what year typeR trannys will fit to my 96 gsr?

there are only certain year type r trannies that come with a 4.7 final. The type r tranny i have on my b16 is a 97 usdm and it has a 4.4 final.

All b-series Type-R trannies will bolt up to your GSR. Only the 98 spec JDM ITR has the 4.785 FD, all other Type-R trannies have the 4.4 FD.

There we go that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks I appreciate it. Looks like I'll just get the best shape tranny I can get and have the final drive replaced later on if I feel it will make a big enough difference.
