Default Big problem, need advice! Quick!

Alright, this weekend I get under my car because I actually have time to change my oil instead of having someone else do it. I start wrenching on the drain plug and it finally starts turning, but it isn't coming out! I think the garage I took it to last time must have cross threaded it and I can't get the plug out. So I need to know what is the best way to get the bolt out. I can turn it in both directions and it loosens and then re tightens with every turn. I haven't tried jamming a flathead srewdriver or anything in between the bolt and the pan, so I'm going to try that tonight. Any other suggestions? After I get the plug out, I was going to buy one of those self threading oil drain plugs and a magnet to get the metal out, is this a good idea? What about using a helicoil? Any other suggestions? I've called the local Acura dealer and the parts guy told me that they have a oversized oil plug kit for $30 and they can try to use that or they can replace the oil pan which is $198 or so for the pan plus installation. If I was going to go the way of buying a new pan, I'd just do it myself. What do you guys think? I'd like to work on this tonight if at all possible and I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible but I want to maintain the car and not lose the engine.

Thanks,
Jon

I'd go buy a new oil pan gasket and a rethread tool kit
Drill the bolt out and drain the oil, remove the oilpan.
Use the rethread toolkit to rethread the pan correctly.
Clean all the shavings, put back together.

I would do that (or buy the new pan) and you can add some baffels in there while its off

Sure am! My son's only 1 1/2 but he loves cars, anytime he sees one, he stops everything he's doing to look at them. Maybe on day, he'll drive the R, it's a long shot, but you never know.

I would just take it back to the garage and see if they can help you.
