98 Civic OEM clutch
How do you guys find the stock clutch handles on the 98 Civic D16y8? I've had mine for just over 2 years now, and I can just never get used to it....the engagement just doesn't work for me. I love every other aspect of the car, great engine! But the damn clutch...I've tried different seating positions, different shoes, practicing constantly....just wondering what the secret is.
PLanning on changing it out soon for an Exedy stock replacement clutch&flywheel. I've heard they are good, just not sure how much difference it will make.
Thanks,
Mike
eh I don't have a y8, but I've got a y7, stock clutches are soft as hell and I love mine lol, what don't you like about the engagement point? would you rather have it engage when you are almost completely off the pedal? my cousin's sti was like that and it pissed me off lol
I guess I don't like how far out it engages, for one thing. It's just like you said, it grabs almost at the very top - you can practically tap the pedal and its out. It makes it hard to gauge how you shift when it's like that. Besides, I learned to drive standard on my Talon ESI, and that clutch was all the way to the floor....very different!

Just what I was going to say. I did it to mine.
