cant get timining right "pics"
ok i have everything right, number one piston is top dead center

what is making this hard is i dont have a timing cover to see any marks

ok hear we go i set the timing to blue line is i am thinking shoudnt it be were the red line is the picture is tilted because of camera

and this is what it would look like on the cam and the arrows are where it is now. Every time i turn the crank to tighten the adjusment pully it still gets one tooth off

just want some help no flaming please

ok here we go, i set the timing to where the blue line is.
i am thinking, shouldn't it be where the red line is? the picture is tilted because of the camera.
and this is what it would look like on the cam and the arows are where it is now.
but/however, every time i turn the crank to tighten the adjustment pulley it still gets one tooth off

not flaming.. just it took me at least 5 mins to get what you were saying about the third picture...

ok yeah that is what i think i was doing rong i was taught to set it to TDC then turn it a little so the piston is on its way down but now that i think about it wouldnt that make it be off timming. it cranks and runs but dosnt have any power and back fires out the exhaust back firing out the exhaust does that mean to far retard because since i have no marks on the block i dont know if i need to retard it more or advance it more
Your oil pump should have an inverted triangle to align with the timing pulley mark, indicating TDC.
I actually find it helpful to have the crank behind, about 1/2 tooth. This way, when I turn it to true tdc, it helps to remove slack from the belt on the exhaust side.
Maybe its just me...
Also, I never can align the gears with those holes in the cams... I like cam gear locking tools instead
