I have checked out the area to see if it maybe be a axle but they seem straight. I know cv joints don't normally have to be torn to make a noise but i have rotated it in the air and nothing. I checked the brake pads and nothing (also the disc doesn't looked warpped either). It happens when i drive it and it will make the noise and it sounds even worse as it is driven further. It makes a double clank sounds idk if that would help. Please suggest other reasons for this i just picked up this car and had reciepts on it from the previous owner telling me he already had it fixed as far as upkeep on the maintence.

you should be more specific as to when it happens...during turns under acceleration deceleration when your fat grandma sits in the passenger seat. more specifics and i might be able to help you.

 

Sorry but i was in a hurry for an answer. Alright today i have the front end up on jackstands. So now i found out to be correct that the driver side axle is not turning under acceleration on certain gears. Im hoping its the axle now. Does anyone think it could be the tranny's shafts? Well its not like a clicking noise which is most of the time cv joints but its a clank because the driver side axle is not turning. Give me some inputs.

just a thought, but is the drivers side axle not turning because the car is on jack stands and the differential is sending the power to the passenger side?

 

no it should still turn even being in the air. Right now i want to know if anyone had a similar problem if it is the axle or the insert shaft itself? It sounds like its rotating but the axle isn't so its causing the clanking sound just my thought.

 

Got it done today. Replaced the driver side axle. Bad cv joint but different sound than what i had ever heard before to close to the tranny but glad its just a bad axle. Closed
