depends on how it looks in person. A premodded car is hard to buy because you never know what the idiot that had it before you has done. I would say its worth it in parts and as a shell. I cant say that I would definately trust the motor. Check it out if possible, it definately COULD be worth 5k.
yeah the body looks alright, couple scrathes and dents, the only thing is when he starts the car up, it just makes this loud screetching sound? but then it goes away afterwards. I just sold my ej8 for $5K and wanna pick this up but dont wanna make a bad decision ya know

seriously...especially since its a crvtec....i mean..check the thread on building a reliable ls/vtec and you'll see just what a pain it can be...but i mean if the cars set up right id say its worth it...just i would deal with the oil leak cuz theyre annoying...

my guess is that the screetch is nothing more than a loose alternator belt. Could definately be something different but thats the common easy to fix problem. Could be a starter problem as well. If you are not confident and comfortable in checking the car out yourself spend a hundred bucks to have a mechanic check it out. 100 into 5k is nothing. If you have a real problem and have to put 1k into it... you will be much worse off.

i agree..but there are certain circumstances in which its ok..like i got my hatch with a crvtec for 3900...and the body is clean and it runs good...only problem when i bought it was an idle surge which i fixed and it didnt have a stereo which isnt a big problem for me cuz i used to ride a CBR so im used too it...but yea....5k is a lil steep simply becuse of what the motor could be..i mean...it could be build like ****...he doesnt know

Looks clean...but check into the motor a bit more. Is he a close friend or just someone you know? Would he rip you or is he a straight up guy? Just get every bit of info on and about the car and you can make a clear decision.

steal, not built, that's my motto
j/k
what's the fun of doing that, unless you have no skill to do it yourself and wanted someone to have all the fun. I found out the reason i am keeping sell my car is that I enjoy the build process so much that i can't stand a perfect working car.

my motor is like that also. especially when its humid (i live in new orleans it's always humid
) . whenever i start my car, it squeaks abit and whenever i drive off it kind of stops. but i got rid of it by buyin some of that timing belt spray (forgot what it's called
) but it gets rid of the sqeaking noise
but back on topic, 5k does seem a decent price after all the list of mods.

if its ur friend..look at it this way...
if the car messes up..aka something that was out of ur control and was caused by a poor build...you know where ur friend is and you can beat his *** lol...or have him fix it...*shrugs*

Honestly.... No
sure 5k is a steal to some
but personally if i was going with a used civic for a project car i'd rather find a shell that was "unbastardized" and go to town on it.... with the age of the EK and parts pretty much
EVERYWHERE......
you could build a nicer one for a little over what that one will cost u

You just have to find the right buyer for the car. Sometime it can be a pain in the *** and it will take a few months to sell. On the other hand if you car that is just sick as hell it could sell in a few days. It just the luck of the draw I guess.
thanks for all the replies! he's just a buddy i know, so i dont trust him 100%. He told me that everything was installed and done in NYC, and he drove it back upstate so i cant really say if its a poor build or not. Other than that, i've heard that B20 motors have alot of problems if not done right? honestly i just want this as a daily driver with a lil potential and dont want to spend any more money on it. I talked him down to $4400 without the Rotas. Good Deal or Not?
