Si worth it?
right now I'm driving an EJ6. I love it.. my first car.. alot of firsts together, you know the deal.
my friend has an 06 Civic Si, took a few rides in it, drove it a few times, and I absolutly loved it. I talked to him and his dad about their Si's and they can't say anything bad about it except for the lack of a turbo.
My question is... is this car worth the 400+/mo payments, and extra 100/mo insurance?
I just landed a new career/job and I want to treat myself to something nice, newer, stylish, and fun. For me, Honda's have always been reliable (except for the usual stuff that happens to them) so I've been browsing the net reading up on reliability issues, and even went through the 60+ page thread of everyones FG and it only makes me want one even more.
Any thoughts would really be appreciated. thanks!

The car is worth buying. Your payment and insurance is purely up to you based on approvals. Please don't go by what other people pay on their payments. You don't know the terms or what you may work out at the dealer. Just don't pay anything over MSRP for it. Talk to an Internet Manager. They don't work off commission.
I'm not worried about the payments.. much.. the vehicles that I did want, after thinking it over, the Si is the most practical and cost effective one out of the bunch (thanks to the evo being 42 grand after the options..)
I went to the dealer the other day and got quoted at 23,640 including tax, title, and reg.. and based off what I have read on other sites, that is a very resonable price. I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the car since they've been out for awhile now.

400+ a month?? you can def be in the 300's. all depends on if you want to lease the car, with the option to buy it out. or you can finance 60, 72, and depending on your credit you could maybe get 84 months, but thats not really worth it. plus any money down?
what % tax where you live? and title and reg fees? also, do you know how your credit is? even financing through a credit union to get a lower rate may help

I was customizing the evo on mitsu's website and that's the "quote" they gave me. plus, I want a coupe.. I've already gone the 4dr route.
my credit is excellent. PA's sales tax is 6% title and reg fees are around 150ish total I believe.
I really don't want to lease the car. I am looking to finance it. I know that honda is doing a 4.9% apr till the end of april, but my mom works for a bank so I might get one of her collegues to possibly get me a great deal on a loan through them.

insurance is up to your insurance company and trust me don't go for the 7 or 6 yr finance...but rather the sooner u pay it all off the better
i financed mine for 4 yrs but then within my first year i had a new job and my parents helped me paid it all off so now it is MY car :D
but damn insurance is raping me as well as gas + rent + school(im paying it myself no loan no financial aid) so yeah I'll probably sell it

I feel ya there. I graduated in dec from college, and landed a very nice job a week or two ago. put in my 2 weeks the other day to get ready to start the new one. (I wonder what my priorities are..)
I went to check it out later that night after I got the quote. Actually, I was showing my friend Crystal what I was thinking about getting.. but in black.. I pulled out of the dealership, and there was a car riding my ***, so I slowed down like I n ormally do in that situation so I could **** them off. all of the sudden, red and blue lights came on. great.. I forgot to put on my turn signal when I pulled out. to make a long story short, they pulled me over because I'm 23 years old, I have a lowered civic and I was there at 11:30 at night (because I got off work) if that's not profiling, I don't know what is. they took down all my info, kept asking me why I was there, asked me why my car was so low in the rear (so I was an *** and told them every single thing in there)... THEN they said that I was drinking and had to do a sobriety test. sure I had a drink about a half hour before.. I told them that. I know they were thinking about searching the car. I told them they could. personally, I think they just wanted to check out my car.
is all this trouble worth it? I think so...

This is where I am.. I leave for the navy in july.. fresh out of highschool.. a nice sign on bonus. I want a car, thats that. Right now I have a 92 Si Hatch. I love hondas to the max.
Im having a hard time deciding between.. A new / BARELY used Si.. Not sure 2/4 Door. Or a 92-95 with a kswap / turbo. Something that just really hauls touch hole
.
Both have there perks.. But a new car is a new car.. rides better, its quieter, and its not like Im going to try and set any land speed records. So hard to choose :-\ Chances of the older civic getting stolen is MUUUUUCH higher..
Anyone else think about an older car before they got there Si?

I didn't know car shopping was this tedious!
I've been comparing prices, features, pros, cons, recall notices, personal experience, reading online, comparing insurance quotes, online and over the phone.. ugh! I thought finding a job was the hard part!
I'm heading up to Erie on saturday with some friends and we're going to check out some other Si's and Evo's up there to help work out my decision. I wish I could just say "hmm.. why not both?" but the job doesn't pay "that" well..
I'm looking to buy within the next month or 2.. it's killing me, but I'm taking my time with this decision... I don't want to be like "expletive.. I shoulda gone with the other one".. but, I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about

what dealership did you go to?
what dealership did you go to?
Honda World over on brookhurst / trask. The whole haggling process took like 12 days, but long story short, I lucked out on the deal. After shopping around at 4 other dealerships and getting various numbers, it turned out that one of my managers is neighbors with the fleet manager for honda world... so, based on that alone, he gave me an offer over the phone that blew the others out of the water and gave me a call as soon as the car arrived on the lot.
On a side note though, that's w/o Navi and without any of the stuff the finance guys try adding on when you make all the signatures.
Also, I'm not sure what the exact cut off is, but with a credit rating of 720+ or so you can get 4.9% on a 5 year financing through honda, so that should also help get the payments lower.
