Default the smokeing....

OK well i have an issue....i have had a B18C swap in my 00 hatch for a while, and all has been good on my weekend warrior for abour 8 months. I have taken it to the track a couple times and last night i went and my buddy who i always go with pointed out that it is now smokeing pretty bad...so i let him run it, and i knowticed at low RPM there is no smoke until vtec comes on, as a matter of fact it only starts to smoke as soon as vtec comes on, and it is a sizeable ammount of smoke . what could this be? anyone deal with this befor?

Im preaty sure that vtec is known for smoking just because of the higher oil pressure during vtec ingaugement. So it really might not be as big of a problem as you think. To set you at ease you could try a compression leakdown test just to make sure your rings of valves arnt leaking

Thats not good white smoke means your getting antifreeze or water in your combuton chamber. The water molicules stick to the exaust gas causing the white smoke or steam. Id check to make sure your maintaining coolant levels and temp. and check your oil to make sure that you arnt mixing thoes two. Its a possibility that you may have a blown head gasket thats not that bad yet.

i wouldnt be woried about a light haze of smoke but it is quite a bit of smoke and it isnt blue, or black its pretty white, and its dosent smell like oil really, it just smells like a really strong exhaust smell.

I doubt it's a water problem, when mine smoked it was a grayish/white.
It was Definitely oil burning, since I could run it dry in a week of somewhat hard driving.

Easy fix would be if it was valveseals, bit more pricey if it's the rings,
but get some leakdown/comp tests done with it, and see how those go.
