Just wondering what you guys think is a high quality component set for the stock locations. I'm looking for some good midbass response as well as a high quality tweeter, not played at super loud volumes but something that supports 35-50 quality rms watts (no **** amps) would be nice.

I'm thinking of : Infinity Perfect / Kappa Reference sets
Boston Acoustics

any thoughts?

Diamond Audio M6's, MB Quarts, Eclipses, Focals (in that order in my opinion). Goto an audio shop and give them a listen. My favorite are Diamond Audio but thats just me.

 

In the factory locations? Preferable something with a soft dome. Since you are looking at Bostons, I'd look at the RC620s. The 65 Pros (unless you use the coaxial mount) will probably sound bright, harsh and make your ears bleed.

 

i have boston pro series components in the door stock locations. have to take out 3db of highs and they sound beautiful.

i went with bostons for quality and durability. very happy.

 

i got alpines in my locations... (anyone know of a tweeter that would fit the stock gsr tweeter size?

 

Any 1 inch tweeter will work... May require some shaving of the hole the stock tweeter is currently in, but its not any drastic amount of shaving.

 

no, i mean fit the stock gsr's mounting setup of its factory speakers, I want to mount them in the same mount that the factory speakers used, but im afraid to cut into my tweeter....maybe one day when i get a lot of *****...

 

I had a pair of last model Infinity Reference componets in my GSR. The small tweeter fit in the stock tweeter assembly, looked totally stock.
