Default My Wheel Painting Project *56k enter at own risk*

Well....after having to look at my plain flat black, paint chipped rims for a couple months, and with the H-T Meet coming up, i decided to give my rims a new look. So i decided that i would use one of the very helpful DIY wheel threads here and go to town on my old school rims

Disclaimer: OK..i know my rims are old school...i know some of you are going to say "Why did you do so much work on rims that are old, not in style(ZOMG THEYRE NOT ROTA'S!!!!) or something"...the answer...BECAUSE I EXPLATIVE CAN AND BECAUSE THEYRE MINE!!!...i just so happen to kinda like these rims for some odd reason...anways..heres my project...

UPDATE!: Finished One Rim...looks pretty good...i just kinda suck at taping since this is the first time ive painted anything lawl...i think it came out ok...Definately better than the black

Before i started anything...

Paint is almost off God...not as easy as people make it sound...

What my car would look like with a set of polished rims as opposed to black...i can say...i dont like it

The GF kicking back relaxing while i do lotsa work

Me Being Stupid... Note the blue tape ninja headband

Wheel prepped and taped off...

Prepped fully for paint...and for reference..i didnt have any notecards, but i have old Yu-Gi-Oh cards...lawl...i didnt use anything cool like the Black Magician or anything so dont flip lawl

Coat of primer

Almost done..need to do some touch up on the holes...but STILL looks better than the flat black that was before

I think they're turning out ok. I never thought of shoving cards around the tire for masking...I just learned something here today.

Yup, index cards work great for that. Nice job so far, I know its not easy. Here's what I would do though...Paint the whole wheel black, then polish the faces leaving the holes black. Or maybe even the other way around, polish the holes and paint the faces black. The contrast would look really nice.

....NO!.... i am not a fan of dropping like a g on rims...i personally dont want to spend 200 cuz im cheap and would much rather put money into the motor rather than putting it on wheels that will probably just make my car get jacked...i guess the argument you could pose would be "then why paint them at all...making them look bling will make someone steal it"...well...im sure everyone who looks at these rims already know what they're off of...and about how much theyre worth...as im sure any thief would know...the only rims i MIGHT buy this summer are a set of Fat five's or blades...and thats a big MIGHT...

Your masking job is horrible, man!

The paint scheme looks like those old early 90's wheels that you used to see on jeeps and trucks.

They looked better all black, imo. It masked the hideousness of the rim design.
