Ive done a lot of searching and reading, and the general consensus seems to be toward Koni Yellows Over KYB AGX's. From what I can find between the sponsor forum and the general internet is that Koni Yellows are cheaper anyway, which works out for me. Pretend for the moment that money is out of the question, but i would still like to stay in the same class of damper adjustability.
My setup currently is bone stock, and I intend to run my stock springs for now. I eventually may go to lowering springs, but those are very back burner at this point. I intend to do some autocrossing in the future, but my car is still very much my DD. Which one would you vote for given the criteria, and let me know if I'm missing some dampers that fit into the same performance class as AGX or yellows.

Had them both. The konis are infititely adjustable , meaning there are no preset adjustment points like the AGX which have 4 or 5 not sure.
Also, the konis have and adjustable ( slotted) spring perch which allows you to play with the car's height.
I say go with Konis, plus their warranty service is excellent, not to say that AGX has a bad warranty, I never needed it.

I think Konis are the best dampener you can get!!!
I have Koni yellows with Ground controls and I love the set-up...I say either go with that or grab some Eibach springs also have heard good things about H&R springs but have no personal experience with them and you are set

Are you serious? Is it even a question? If you want some AGxes I'll sell you mine, I'm switching to Koni, and this isn't a for sale add. I'm just stating the Koni is undoubtedly 100x's better. The best is the Koni SPSS twin valves. That is what I'm saving for.
i rock agx and gc... to me its a smooth cost effective ride for a dd setup. power and weight transfer is smooth and dampening is not bouncy at all. the adjustability makes for some noticable changes if u wanna stiffen up the ride for twistys or racing... i like them a lot... personally wherever i looked konis were more money... i was happy with my gr2s so for the new setup i bought the agx....im just that type of person. koni just wasnt worth it to me. im the 1 agx vote lol. i just upgraded my wheels to white 15x8 motegi mr12s i got used and 205/50/15 tires...no gaps no rubbing. just need to take a new pic.

In my search, most threads seem to compare both together and people go either way on them. I know now that yellows are absolutely the way to go.

koni yellows are definately not cheaper than agx.

I found these... http://www.nolimitmotorsport.c...66SP4 but didn't realize they were per damper and not a set of fronts. and then I found the AGX as a whole set for $450... so I thought I would be paying ~$300 for koni's instead of $500.
I also didn't realize that Koni's were continuously variable, unlike the AGX. All the item descriptors on the websites i check out were pretty vague about just HOW adjustable these things were.
Looks like I'll be getting Koni's after all. Thanks for the help.

1. Figure out what you will be using the car for and what you expect from the suspension. (DD and some Auto-X)
2. Select a lowering spring based on how stiff the spring rates are and how low is an acceptable ride height for your use.
3. THEN match the shocks to the springs you will be using. shocks job is to control the spring.

Have you ever seen those ads in any car mag, where the owner lists all sorts of numbers on how many wheels, exhausts, chips, etc they go through, but only 1 set of Koni's?
It's like that, once you go Koni, you never think about it again. On full soft, the ride is very nice, predictible and perfect for taking you grandma to church in, but turn them up, and you have a handling beast.
I've said it before - Koni = ****, KYB = ***** - now which do you want in your face?
KYB's are actually okay shocks, just not as all out as the Konis, and the Koni's have a lifetime warranty.

Koni Yellow's are awesome, very stiff and made my 2000 Civic EX feel like my RSX, stiffness-wise. I paired mine with some Tanabe GF210 's which are an awesome spring in my opinion. YOu definitely get what you pay for but in this case, if you buy Koni's, you get a little more than you pay for because of its lifetime warranty. I've owned so many different cars and got to experiment with different rides. My Civic with Koni Yellows got stolen though so that sucks. Right now I have an Em1 on Tokico Blue's which are GREAT for the money. I personally don't liek KYB's and my second favorite shock next to the yellows are Tokico Illumina's. But even the Illumina's don't seem to get stiff enough to me for the track like the Koni's do.
