Default turbo installed = horrible smell?

do all turbo cars have a bad smell along with it?

i mean, an STI is turbo'd but doesnt have that bad smell most aftermarket turbo cars have.

such as the "rich fuel smell", oil burning smell etc etc... sup with that?

bad turbo?

An sti is turbo from the factory, Honda's aren't . Are you running full exhaust, are you tuned ?

Sounds like your kit doesn't run a cat or is way too rich. A newly installed turbo kit running a bad basemap will smell like gas and oil (thin film on all new parts). The cat is used to scrub unburnt fuel and other gasses out of the exhaust.

Factory turbo cars have everything designed to be perfect when they are first assembled. Yours sounds like it won't come close to passing emissions.

lets see.. an sti has all factory **** hooked up . you probably have your valve cover vented open.... a straight pipe. open dumptube. and prob some exhaust gas leaks. and improper tune. thats why your car smells like doo doo

Welcome to the smelly world of turbo's. You'll be smelling and hearing a lot more things than you did when you were stock.

Bacon?

Check your oil lines, make sure you aren't leaking oil on your downpipe or manifold that usually gives off a nice scent..

Great Idea, cook some bacon on the exhaust housing! Quick and easy breakfest, plus it will smell really good!

if you use synthetic oil, you can fry five times as much bacon, before you have to discard the oil

open dp is something that is very hard to get used to, and it really sucks when you see a cop cuz there is really now way to make it quiet.

But yes turbo hondas do have a smell, mostly cuz the open wastegate as opposed to the internal wastegated factory turbo'd cars. A cat, full exhaust and a closed loop wastage will take care of the smell, but also rob you of some hp...

A good friend of mine once said "When you make your car faster, it starts making all new smells."

hahah.. yup

My car always stinks after a few good rippers. I'm running an open PCV system though, so that's where my fumes are coming from.

I don't ever turn my fan to fresh air, because it sucks those fumes from the engine bay and blows them into the cockpit. lol.

I <3 boosted hondas.

that's how you know your car is fast, by that distinct smell.. Other's believe that the louder your fart can the faster the car.. I think the 1st observation is more true.

how long have you driven the car, is it going away by little or gettin worse? if install was a bit sloppy, you could have spilled fluids, lubricants or something thats baking and giving off thats smell. loctite, sealants, new exhaust will give some type of weird smell that should go away at some point.

I remember the smell that would come into cabin when she got opened up with the exhaut leak and heat being on fresh air. I thought it smelled like rocket fuel. Nowadays I smell catless exhaust with my windows down but no longer smell like exhaust when I get out of the car.
