A pipe is a pipe! It's the filter that matters. I kinda looks like it's a K&N filter, but it doesn't say. If looks fine if that's what you going for.
I'm real **** and have to have brand name parts, so I'm getting the AEM V2 for $250.

 

You get what you pay for.

I bet you can see right through that filter.

 

What he could do is buy the Ebay intake then install the filter on the garbage and go out to buy a K&N filter.

If he's looking for short ram and doesn't care about brand name then a pipe is a pipe, but filter matters, so make sure you don't go cheap on that.

I say just buy one, but if you want to make it there are instructions. I forgot where you can find the instruction, but their out there.

1.open up your airbox.
2. gut it. w/ what ever gets the job done (dremel, knife, saw, fork, etc.)
3. get k&n filter.
4. replace stock filter with k&n and close airbox.

What is reason you are adding this? If for just sound increase buy the ebay item. If you want for looks get a name brand AEM, Injen, etc. Search google for short ram intake or cold air intake. Horsepower will increase something like this:

Short ram intake increase HP 2-6

Cold air intake increase HP 11-16

 

Doubt CAI will give that much, but it probably will higher than rm intakes.

Here is a link to clubrsx.com test of different intakes. The AEM short ram lost horsepower. The AEM V2 did really well. Check it out for yourself:

Filtration or Airflow?

You can only pick one. If you want maximum airflow, you obviously wont get a filter that filters well. If you want something that blocks almost all particles, you wont get much airflow.

you can get the piping and get a different filter.

Ya that was just an estimate on the HP increase. Depending on your set up yes you can actually decrease horsepower. Best if you want some horspower gains go cold air intake CAI

lol CAI wont give you 11-16 hp. plus, hp doesnt mean jack, you gotta look at whp. people have dynoed their bone stock Type S at 176-178whp, and then dynoed it after an Injen CAI at 182whp. so thats about a 4-6whp gain

 

Without the HP...

 

Go for the Comptech Icebox CAI. Best buy for all weather driving. Excellent quality.
