Default Something different: P/S rack to manual steering rack bushing

this is going into a DA integra that is being prepared for touring class racing... they were swapping out the p/s rack for a manual one out of a crx and the es bushing didn't fit the smaller diameter manual rack so i made up a split bushing out of delrin to fill the gap. i would have made a whole new bushing out of delrin that could be bolted together but local suppliers wanted $25 for a 4" piece of 2.5" round delrin! i already had the 2" so i made the sleeve instead. if it doesn't work out well i'll just make a whole new one out of aluminum.

new rack:

sleeve installed, note it fits snug enough to hold itself on without falling off:

now the es poly bushing overtop:

ready to shred corners!

FYI. I had similar problems with putting an EG manual rack in place of my DC power rack. I thought of doing something similar to what you did but I didn't like the idea of the rack being crooked the thickness of the delrin. (although I am sure this won't make much of a difference) So I opted to just use an EG manual rack subframe. It took some time to hunt one down because everyone I dealt with didn't know there was a difference in subframes. BTW your work looks good. What tools did you use to make it?

i was in a hurry and just cut the non ps bushings down to fit in the ps bushings. kinda ghetto, but it works and no issues for 10K miles PLUG

is there any danger of the sleeves wiggling out over time? maybe there should be a shoulder on the sleeves to hold them in place?

that was my concern but i guess it sits inside a pocket or something that will help prevent that and then gets a strap across the other half to hold it all together? i'll have to get some pics of it installed.

it should have some sort of metal u-shaped bracket that covers it. well at least that's how it is in the 92+ models. looks great
