Default Piston Coated by Tome Cote (Tbone)

Piston Coated by Tom Cote (Tbone)

Extremely High Quality Coating (No stray overspray, very consistent thickness as measured by my eyeballs).

1. On the skirt, the dry-film molybdenum disulfide coating on the skirts adds "insurance" againts lack of oil lubrication.

2. On the dome/crown, the ceramic thermal barrier coating slows down the heat transfer rate so that the air/fuel mixture essentially "sees" a less hot part.

i see

whats the cost of that for a set of pistons?

You'll have about $125 in them by the time you get them back in your hands.

The coating disperses heat more evenly across the coated part. It also slows thermal transfer into the piston.

What kind of pistons are those? I don't know about that dome design.

Custom CP with troph valve reliefs. I saw this style valve relief when I used deal with JG Engine Dynamics. Now Darius (truly cool braddah) of CP puts this on all my custom pistons. Works beautiful. It seems to like less timing.

I'm not an expert but it looks like an awfully tall dome to achieve high compression as compared to standard mid dome design.

Reminds me of a CTR piston.

I've also had my Wiseco's coated by TBONE...Excellent work and quick turn-around time. I will have him do this to all my pistons for as long as he offers this service.

Dont get too hung up on a dome being bad all the time. It depends on chamber shape as well. Ive always looked at compression as the ultimate example of compromise in an engine.

I think he has them done locally here in CT.

I've used the same place for piston and valves in the past.

Very good stuff!

Tom does it himself. I actually do it now as well but the rollerwaves going in my b20 were actually done by him lol.

What kind of chamber would this piston work well with?

A combustion chamber.

The dome is not that high. The face just looks longer due to the lack the material between the valve reliefs that is normally found on most pistons.

Tom does all my pistons. Seems to save my *** pretty often while i'm learning how to tune!

What's the reasoning for one big relief on either side instead of individual valve reliefs? Pros/cons?

More flow, less surface area.....

so then im curious...whats the exact wear down rate of this ceramic application to the piston?? and there has to be some wear(cylinder rub in)...
