warranty BS....need opinions
well since my comprehensive warranty expires tomorrow, and the car was just taken out of storage last week, i was able to look back at my last dealer visit. I was complaining about the all too comon TO bearing and input shaft noises. The dealership disagnosed "POSSIBLE release bearing and pilot bearing due to minimal noise". At the time they told me this was not covered under warranty, they were giving me pure bullshit. They charged me $105 diagnostic fee because they diagnosed parts that were not warranty related.
So today I called honda canada and told them the story, and the guy did his own investigation by calling the dealer himself to find out the story. It turns out that these are covered under warranty. However, Honda canada told me that they would have to open up the tranny to check and make sure they need replacing.
Now the manager at the dealer has been conveniently in a meeting since honda canada spoke with him, but I already know that they are gonna say that if they open my tranny and it looks fine, im gonna have to pay the cost to open my tranny. My argument is that if they are telling me that release bearing and pilot bearing might not be good, why should i have to pay incase everything is fine???
any suggestions or opinions??
if they are not gonna fix it, im gonna put a claim in for my $105 diagnostic fee that I paid for them telling me they were not warranty related parts

Input shaft bearing=inside the trans housing. Release bearing and pilot bearing=external to trans, in other words accessible once trans is removed.

So they say it's the release or pilot bearing, it's covered under warranty, so they should fix it. If the noise is not corrected then they need to move onto the next component that could be the cause.
Leave a message with the service manager and if doesn't return your call drop by the dealer. Get your money back too!!

I had a similar situation with an acura dealership with my oil consumption. The dealer always states that its normal and that you will have to pay the diagnostic fee if nothing is wrong. As long as you call your warranty company and find out it is covered, go in there and dont take no for an answer. I got the run around a couple times from a local dealership and decided to take it to another dealership. Low and behold the second dealer ended up performing a diagnostic and found that I needed my short block replaced.
