Just got a 98 spec r motor; need a couple ???s answered
Hey guys I recently returned a motor and purchased a B18C type r motor instead. I believe this is the most powerful 1.8 of the itr lineup (210 hp, correct?). As for torque, is it also higher than the 96 spec? Another concern: being in the states, I will not be able to run 100 octane! I have always used 92 or higher in my gsr. However, that motor was not japanese... will this present a problem? Thanks for the help!

That's 200 PS. (197.26hp)
As far as I'm aware, NO. Possibly 1-2lbs/ft due to the changes in exhaust manifold and camshafts. In other words, VERY MINIMAL changes.
If you can find and continually use 92+ oct, you'll be fine.

You can run 93. I have the same motor and I'm not sure about that 210hp. Sounds a little to high to me.
BTW Get ready for high rpm's on the highway. 4.79 Final Drive FTW.

My 97 JDM ITR runs great on 91 octane (thats all we get out west). I had the ECU done by H-T member Kenji and I had him set up the ignition timing for 91 octane specifically...

USDM and the JDM 98+ spec are still relatively close in RPM when cruising at 80 MPH. USDM and 96 spec JDM trannies w/4.7 = higher revs.

5th - 0.848
Final Drive - 4.400
(Same as USDM)
