boost.. go with the LS for sure plus it'll help with the gas mileage a LITTLE bit.. BUT nevertheless the b16 tranny is amazing so both are good choices.. LS is cheaper.

how? gas consumption is based off of throttle position not rpm.

seriously though, if you are looking to boost it, depending on how much boost you are talking about, the LS tranny is better. It will allow you to spool your turbo and stay in boost longer (therefore making maximum power longer) than the b16 tranny. However, if you aren't serious about the turbo, or are one of those people that want one, but will never actually get one, then stick with the b16 tranny for all motor. You will hate the LS tranny for anything else but boost.

you are actually wrong though. if the tighter geared tranny never falls below the RPM in which he gets full boost at he will be faster (traction permitting) than with a longer geared tranny. staying in boost longer just means its taking longer to go through the RPMs, which basically means, slower acceleration.
the only time a long geared tranny is better for acceleration is when thats what it takes to get traction. the TQ multiplication of the higher numerically geared transmission hinders traction compared to the numerically lower geared tranny.
to sum it up, shorter gears ALWAYS mean faster acceleration (traction permitting) in F1 if a car is smoking the back tires coming out of every turn they do a gear swap to reduce the TQ multiplication, they dont do it to "stay in the powerband longer".

.... my civic with LS/VTEC turbo with b16 tranny = 12.7 at top speed.
LS tranny = 10.9 with more to go.
everything else on the car is exactly the same. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Probably because you had traction issues ..

mmm, ok, if you say so. please define how though??? and how bout some MPHs with those ET's.

One thing I see everyone missed. What are your plans with your integra?
Are you going to race it on the race track?
What are your horse power goals?
Is this going to be a daily driver?
-if so how many miles are you guessing?
The b16 is great for acceleration, it will get to the top speed faster because of closer gearing. This will be the best bet for 1/4 mile and or autocross racing.
The LS transmission has longer gears. It may also kick you out of vtec if vtec engages at 5600rpm when shifting. LS transmission is great for turbo set-ups with loads of power becuase vtec is usually as low as 3k-4400rpm. If your not tracking the car, the LS will give you a better 5th gear for high speeds such as freeway.
It all depends on your needs as the driver/modifyer.
Gas mileage is changed by rpm/throttle position as well as rpm in the long term.
example, engine running at 3k for x amount of time will use y amount of fuel. engine running at 5k for x amount of time will use z amount of fuel because the engine is going through the power cycle 2k more times then running at 3k in the same time span.

ok then you need to make the decision, do you want the close gearing, or long gearing which will put the 5th gear rpm something like 3250rpm at 80 I believe. Don't quote me on that.

it will be higher, 80mph is more around 3600rpm with stock wheel/tire diameter.
but the question is STILL "are you going to convert to hydro???" if not this discussion is pointless. the cable B series trannies are not much differant between each. graph them and you will be surpriced. the YS1 was also available in RS/GS/LS as well, and have the same ratios as the S1. the usdm YS1 from the 92-93 gsr is a little better, but not worth the money people think they are as there is NO lsd options from the factory, and the JDM YS1 has a crappy 4.26 final drive with slighter tighter gears, with the only advantage of possibly having LSD.

i got an ls tranny on my gsr....i love it...i have no number to show for it but i take my car to the street races and i beat other gsr hatches with b16 and gsr trannys and my car is stock with intake and exhaust, i love my ls tranny. lol im sure no one is going to agree with me here but its just my 2 cents...
