Default DA owners help me out.

I have a 92 integra GS. Everytime I run my car slightly hard or just redline it I hear a winding/whistle noise above 4k rpm.

My motor has over 200 thousand miles on it. The only thing wrong with the car is the thermostat and my idle slightly bounce from 800 to 400 rpm

This was my brothers car, so I received it in this condition.

Anyone had the same noise I'm getting?
How did you fix that?
Any help would be great.

More info required. Where is teh noise comming from, only on accel or decel or both, etc etc.

The "I have a noise, what is it" doesn't always work. As much info as you can share will help others in helping you.

I don't know where the noise is coming from. I'll look into that tonight. It only makes the noise I accelerate.

I know its not the intake. I just put my intake on a couple of weeks ago. This noise has always been there since I got the car in Novermber.

The noise is coming from the engine bay.

Could be anything from pulleys, timing belt tensioner(ball bearing), water pump bushing, etc.

yeah man, you gotta give some more info. there are hundreds of tiny places fro air to get in...I'd be willing to bet it's the intake if you have one. Otherwise, it very well could be the door seals or the hatch seals....

With over 200 thousand miles. I doubt the timing belt, tensioner and water pump have been changed. I'll get it changed soon and see if that fixed the problem.

I have a 92 LS with 164k miles and i also have a whining noise. the Goodyear that I took it to said it was the timing belt and it was supposed to sound like that. i just left it at that and i have no intake or anything yet. would there be something else i should do?

Its not air getting into the body. When I'm driving on the highway at 70 mhp its fine. Only when I accelerate harder then normal driving. Its somewhere in the engine thats making this noise when I accelerate. Tonight I will look more into where the noise is coming from.
