Default heater core

so i was just wondering....can the heater core be a reason the car is over heating.....i notcied a few weeks again while i was driving the heater was blowing hot air,but as a stoped at a light the air started to get colded by the second. it was over heating before the hot/cold air thing but just wondering is maybe that could be a cause

thanks for any info

No

But from your description, it's possible that the fluid is simply low in the system. You get heat at times when fluid gets pushed through the core, then a big air pocket comes in and you get nothing and then the overheating starts because the head boils what fluid is in it.
