I believe the rims (okay, wheel caps) that come with the car are specially made (in terms of weight) for the Hybrids.

Can anybody confirm?

The OEM Hybrid wheels are designed to contribute to the efficency of the car but I doubt that changing them out will have any adverse effect on MPG.

Actually it will, and if you change them you don't qualify for the Fed tax incentive.
