tranny mount question
ok i have been burning up tranny's like crazy. i can't seem to figure out why but the one thing i notice is when i am coasting and then get on the gas a little i can see the shifter move which makes me think a mount is bad if i can watch the shifter move back and forth. what i'm asking is if the mount is bad could that be causing me to go thru tranny's? i can't seem to figure out my problem and honestly i can't afford to keep the problem. i just wanted to know what maybe some feedback is on this problem. the mount thing is the only one i can think of but if anyone knows anything else please say something.
thanks

Make sure all your mounts are tight and maybe invest on a front crossmember with front mounts to a B-series engine to minimize play. I think they sell em for about $190 at jdmhondaparts.com. Beats buying a transmission every time...But I don't think this is the reason for your tranny problem though because engine and the tranny are bolted together so when one moves the other goes with it...there's such thing as normal engine movement. If there's something that will break, I'd say the header and cat connection. this happens to me and i keep on bending the bolt that holds the cat and header...will try to get it fixed this weekend.
but i'm wondering that if a mount is broken thats gonna cause the tranny to move quite a bit, bolted to the motor or not its gonna move alittle bit. and maybe if the mount is bad the tranny is sitting at a slight angle causing something to rub. i don' tknow i'm just tyring to think of something logical here
If the mount in the rear is broken(whether it be the rubber or the metal) it will make the engine move like that. The rear mount is the one that controls most of the movement, so check there first.

i just can't keep a tranny for over like 4 months and then somethng starts grinding. i just figured it was a mount that was bad , but i seirously don't know
i'm thinking that a mount is bad causing the tranny to sit at an angle move around cause something to grind up against something else. thats just what i'm thinking because i can't think of anything else reallyh
the first one was a 88 crx si and this one i have now was a 91 si. i have gone thru 2 since the one i have now is starting to go i am just gonna change it out with another i have. but i will be on my 3rd tranny
I can't say for sure. Howver, I do know that a bad mount can cause the tranny to grind. You might want to IM mista bone. He is our resident d-tranny guru.

If it helps, my firends stock B18 in his integra waxed 3 transmissions in about 10 months time (it became a joke after the 2nd one). Finally I drove it one day and noticed the shifter moving bad. I thought he forgot to tighten the mount. It ends up the mount was bad. He replaced it and hasn't had a transmission go out since.
I have no idea what the corelation was. He was blowing the diffs through the side of the case (once under totally normal driving conditions at about 3000 rpm). All I know is after the mount, the tranny #4 is holding up good.
