What RPM is BEST to launch at?
I'm looking to receive opinions and insight on this area because I've heard so many different things from different people and I would like to hear from fellow Drag Strip enthusiasts.
My setup is an LS/VTEC making 174 WHP N/A weighing in at 2205 w/out me; VTEC engaging at 4700. Currently my lauch control is set at 4K and on my daily street tires (not DRs) they don't seem to spin too much IMO at this RPM. I'm yielding a best of 2.3-60' but it ranges from 2.3-2.5. This is on generic slip-on coilovers.
My question: How can I cut better 60', by launching at lower RPM or higher RPM (in VTEC; where there's a stronger powerband for Hondas), at what RPM and what clutch engage technique works best?
Same question for STREET, DRs and SLICKS .
Please share what has worked for you on your setup, Thanks!

best advice yet is "every car is different" but every driver is different too, only way to figure out what the best launch point is to experiment, slicks you want to launch it high, street tires you want to ride the clutch a little bit, i pulled a 1.9 on street tires in my coupe when it was n/a riding the clutch a tad, i went a 13.6 at 102 on that run also

a little off topic but i am curious
do you feel that $1000+++ coilover will give you a better launch?
other then that some good advice best thing is seat time and getting to know your car
although those 60' times are a little high
what suspension setup do you have and what spring rates? tires are you using?

Umm, the reason I said that I have "generic slip-on coilovers" is to say that I have very cheap suspension on STOCK struts so no I do not have $1000 coilovers so calm down. BTW, no I would never spend that much on coilovers anyway.
Back on topic, in the past I have just used whatever Kumho tires I have and they weren't the worst but I just recently got me some Azenis RT-615 so I'll see if they're any better

Yes. They usually do, unless you really suck at driving.
Do you need to have them to be able to launch good? No, not really.
