Hello, I recently got the wrist pins pressed into std. pct pistons for new rods. I noticed a few minor pecks and some minor scratches on the side walls of the pistons(I guess from being handled or somethng).OEM piston to wall clearance looks fine. But will it be okay to install them into the cylinders with the light pecks and scratches??
The rings are what actually make contact with the cylinder.but the piston has a clearance.
what do you think,any advice/insight,stories.........
thanks
sorry for such a lousy image,If itll help

Larger pics would help.
If you run your fingernail across them will it catch?
If its just the coating scratched and nothing in the metal you will be fine.

I think it will be fine. It oculd be just as deep as the coating since the skirts on the CTR pistons are coated. The coating is pretty thin though. If its not catching with the nail, I wouldn't worry. Absolute worse case, you could always sand them lightly with soemthing like 1,000 grit sandpaper to smooth the scratches out.
