gsr jerking at low revs
i was wondering if it was just my car, or a common problem since the car doesn't have a lot of torque
at very low revs (1.5-2k) if i step on the gas more than just a little my car jerks like it's stumbling trying to accelerate (you can see it from the outside as well)...is this a problem? If it is anyone know how to fix it?

i think thats how stick shift is...you can try to tighten your throttle cable

is it more of a jerk or vibration? vibration means your gear is too high for your speed.
"It's time to drive around a bit. You're not going to go out of first gear, so you can stay in the parking lot. First gear is good up to about 15 MPH on most cars - don't exceed this or you will over-rev the engine. Start out in first just start driving slowly around the parking lot. Once the clutch is completely released, wind it up to about 10 miles and hour, then pull your foot off the gas. Whew - it almost throws you through the windshield. This is because engine speed and car speed are directly related, unlike in an automatic transmission where there is more "coast" in the transmission. Once you are down around 5 MPH, give it gas pretty firmly, about 3/4 of the gas pedal. Even on a small car, you'll jerk you head back hard. Again, the wonderful thing about a manual transmission is that it is directly coupled to the engine. Practice smoothly slowing down and speeding up a bit."

definately a jerking feeling, i was just wondering because i have a 96 240sx 5 speed, when I hit the gas at low revs it just doesn't accelerate, like every other car i've had. I guess it's nothing...I shouldn't be driving in the wrong gear anyway....its just irritating when you don't want to shift down

I think I know what you're talking about, I've been noticing it on my gsr too.. if you give it light/medium throttle in like 1st or 2nd gear, it seems to sort of accelerate unevenly
Well, the proper way to put a car in first gear:
1. Press down on clutch
2. Put shifter in "1"
3. Rev to 8,000 RPM
4. Drop Clutch
Ok, enough joking.
If you haven't been driving stick for long, it is most likely that you are still just getting used to the car... not letting go of the clutch smoothly enough.
If you have, then it could be an engine issue. I'm not the tech-iest guy out there, but I think if its bogging down, it could be an air/fuel ratio issue.
My old celica had that problem every once in a while at around 2k, this thing had a huge amount of torque, so it shouldn't have been doing that... plenty of low end power. I never got it checked out though... instead I sold it and bought a GSR!

I think rideing in low rpm makes the car jerks. Ah and your foot cant be steady ? You nead to be a robot to be precised. Put an auto tranny, it will solve the jerking.
This happened to my when i first started to learn driving stick shift. When it starts to jerk in 1st gear, just switch to 2nd and it should be smooth again. i think the jerks because you arent giving it enough gas, atleast that was the problem for me. Hope that helps
I've been driving stick for over 8 years now, on 7 different cars from 240s, civics, an evo, and a couple of american cars like mustangs....I KNOW how to drive a stick and can feather the clutch and gas just fine....the problem i have is with every other car i have had when you accelerate at low revs the car just doesn't accelerate...my old civic ex didn't do it either...
maybe i should clarify
if im taking off in first gear the car does not jerk....say im in second @ 1.5-2 rpm's and feather the clutch the car will not jerk...but if i hit the gas more than just a little it will start jerking like it's struggling to accelerate...
i was just worried bc i've driven many cars, even a da integra, but never seen this before

This is really strange, my car startes jerking really hard like it was sputtering. Found out that i was running really lean. The fuel pressure was at 25 psi.
