Is it possible you have either a z6 cam or cam gear? they are about half a tooth off from the y8.

A few companies make a y8 and a z6 cam gear AEM is one of them, and you have the correct part number.

Skip the gear ahead/back a tooth and tighten the belt. it could be possible you just have too much slack for it to line up.
