b16 tranny or ls which is better for boost????Thanks
i have a bult b16 for my da...its built for high boost too...some told me the ls tranny would be better for high boost for the track but i believe the b16 tranny has a lsd in it so there for better traction..go with lsd traction or beter gearing tranny?????also the ls tranny has 150,xxx miles on but works fine will i blow it out fast on high boost???
the LS tranny is better for boost due to gear ratios. the Type R tranny is close ratio so you have better bottom end but more shifiting. with the high boost you'll have to deal with lag alot more . i'd go with the LS tranny just for performance advantages.
ill stick with the b16 tranny.. boost or no boost.. i dont give a damn.. b16 is still better.. dont whine about traction issues, get LSD and traction bars for that matter

the b16 has the LSD AND better gearing, LS allows you to stay in boost longer, but you can offset either tranny by picking the turbo that would be most effective. large turbo you could be out of boost when upshifting with the LS

for smaller hp id prefer b16, for a LOT of hp id choose the ls.
This is because if you were making a whole lot of hp youd go through the b16 gears way too fast, but if you were just making a little hp, you'd want the b16 to give yourself the little amount of added acceleration the b16 would give you.

if you go with the ls tranny you got i suggest rebuilding it since it has quite a few miles on it, then id go with

traction bars

Type-R > b16 > Gsr > Ls
Only thing longer gearing will be good for is if you like Higher top speeds,
It doesn't matter what power it is, the Better gearing Will Still be quicker.

if this is a purely track car with a little bit of street driving, why wouldnt you go with the b16 tranny? if you're making lots of power you'll need big slicks anyway. get some good mounts and traction bars. and learn how to drive.

Possibly if it was a JDM one, but not all of us live in JDM land.
It's like saying a GSR came in automatic ..
it would be false because WE do Not get Japanese cars/parts directly In the United States.

And someone that thinks you don't spin out as much with an LS trans,
well guess what, if you make enough power, you'd spin with Any of them.

i'd say its pretty self explanatory, b16 loves to rev high and makes peak power and torque (or lack thereof) in higher rpms. on upshifts thels tranny would put the engine out of its power range in every gear, hence slower

Sorry about that. It was more of a rhetorical question. It seemed like he had had a real life experience with a long geared tranny on a high revving motor.

You should search, I know its been covered before. Theres a lot of mis-information, a lot of people don't know what they're talking about.
