90-91 fenders....
hey wussup everyone, im new to this board. i have a couple questions regarding crx's. first question is regarding corner lenses. as all of you know 90-91 corner lenses dont have any visible screws from the outside. 88-89 models have visible screws outside on the corner lens. a friend told me that i can swap out my 88 fenders for 90-91 fenders so i can use 90-91 corner lenses. is this true? also, i know i shouldve just gotten a 90-91 CRX but i rushed it
, but is it possible to just change my 88 doors to 90-91 doors? are the hinges on the same spot? sorry for my newbie questions......

I'll start with the bottom and work my way up. 89-91 doors DO NOT fit in an 88 CRX. The only doors that will work on your car are all 88 and 89 HF doors. As far as I know, you can swap the fenders and sidemarkers.
thanks for the reply. why wont 89-91 crx doors fit 88 crx's. and you say that 89 hf doors fit 88 crx, does the 89 hf door have the seat belts on the door like all 90-91 doors. thanks again
The 89 HF does not have the seatbelts on the door, just like 88. 89 DX and Si do have seatbelts on the doors like 90 & 91. The hinges line up, and the doors are the same size, but the door shell is different where it meets the B pillar and will not close. Why do you want to put newer doors on it anyway? The 88 doors are so much lighter!

thanks for your help man. one last question. how can 89 models accept both 88 doors and 90-91 doors? can a body shop perform some modifactions to make it fit? the reason i want newer doors is cause i want the seat belts on the door.

it hit the b-pillar. I was so pi$$ed off, I got out the cut off tool and started cutting the door. After destroying the door, I finally got it to close. It was a disaster. There was no way that I was going to make the inside of the door look good with the amount of metal that I cut off and I own a body shop. The reason I bought the new doors is because my old doors were rusted pretty bad. So what I did was bought 2 new door skins from Honda and put them on. There was no rust on the shell, just on the skin around the molding. I skinned them, painted them and put them on and it worked like a charm.
If you are replacing your doors cause they are rusted out, I'd suggest doing door skins. If your doing it just because you want your seat belts on the door, sell your 88 and buy a newer one. It'd be cheaper. If you came to my shop and asked me to do that, I'd tell you to go.....well, nevermind what I'd tell you to do, just don't do it.
****! sorry for being a PITA
, but i really want to do the door conversion. where did u do the cutting when u cut out some parts to make the door fit? did u cut on the door or the car? i just checked my car and looked at the b pillar and its flat and then theres a groove then it dips then its flat again
. is it that what hinders the 90-91 doors from closing? do u have any pictures? reason why i want to do the conversion is cause i got my motor in my crx already and i dont want to take it off and then put it in a new car, and finding a motor for my crx and then selling it. plus getting a good condition 90-91 crx here in SF bay area California is kinda hard(and price is steep). i was wondering if i cut out pieces from the b pillar(the part where its flat at first and then dips, just cut out that area and make it all flat) would that help? real sorry, damn im a ricer, LOL j/k
