Default PC Card Slot for Navi Unit

Just wanted to know if anyone has one, first of all, and if they use it often. I'm thinking about grabbing the card and want to know its level of utility. TIA. Oh, and if you know which card type it is, that would greatly help.

it uses whatever card you have an adapter for. i use a CF card (2G) for mp3's all the time, probably more than i use any other source. it's a PC card adapter you need, and they come in different types for different cards, reasonably priced. pretty sure i got mine at best buy for like $15.

I have a Sandisk Compact Flash to PCMCIA adapter. My CF card is 4 gig. It works great and I use it all the time. In fact, I gave my IPOD to my wife for her car. It's so much easier to see the titles and change folders on the Navi screen instead of the IPOD.

There was some talk a while back that only a 1 gig card would work. I went ahead and bought the 4 gig and it works fine. Also, don't worry about getting a high speed card. It won't make any difference and only cost more

i dont think there is a limit
however when they tested/designed the unit they maxxed out at like 2gig's

after that u run the risk of slowing down the searches/ scans

I had some 2Gig PCMCIA drives around the house (about 100 of them).
I tried it this morning and it works perfectly. Loaded a couple of MP3s in it and it sounds better than expected.

I might get rid of a few of these, I got them from a liquidation sale, got them cheap.

this is what I used. Sounds good, plus 2 gigs and no adapter needed to use it with the radio.
Besides super cheap compared to an iPod. PM me for details.

just need to use a laptop to copy the mp3's to it. Or if you have the PCMCIA port on your PC you can use that too.

Are they memory cards or hard drive cards?
My 2006 Civic Hybrid manual cautions against using hard disc drive cards.
"To avoid damaging the card reader, do not insert hard disc drive cards into the PC card slot"

I would like to get a 4 gb card of some variety and the PC card adapter to use it.

yeah I saw that, but they get no hotter than in a PC. I think that's just Honda covering their a$$es and in other words saying "we're not responsible if you put these in there".

Besides they're cheap. I mean 2 cards are about $20. That's not bad for 4 gigs.

I am running into problems with my navi. I have a 4gb cf card and PCMCIA adapter for cf and the navi reboots as soon as the navi recognizes the card and starts to play the song.
Any idea why. its a 2006 civic EX
Thanks

Can you give us the exact make/model numbers of your card/adapter setup?
Evidentily CF cards come in different flavors. PIO mode, DMA mode, and UDMA mode. I'd like to get a BIG card, but don't want to get the wrong mode.

Anyone know the detailed specs on the NAVI card reader?

I have adapter and have tried in both and does not work the adapter is SanDisk (no model number) and PRETEC (no model number. Th 4gb card I have is Kingston elite pro and numbers behind is 9930538-001.A00LF and its 3.3V CF/4GB. I hope this can help someone figure out why its not working in my civic navi. I am out of ideas of what else to do. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you
