Rev Speed and Acceleration, are they related?
I've talked to a few of my friends and we all don't exactly know the answer to this. But assume that you have a stock car, and you don't change anything in it except engine mods i.e. : cams, intake, exhaust...etc.... Will your car rev faster?
The answer i have gotten to that is no. But what i am confused about is how can your car accelerate faster without it revving faster? Doesn't the RPM translate to realtime speed? And if you're not going through your revs more quickly, how can you accelerate faster with more hp?

Yes Revs are directly related to speed...
More power= quicker reving.
Also A lower (numerically higher) gear set or final drive will make your car accelerate faster.
The fact that revs climbing quickly= accel is why everyone outs lighter flywheels etc. on their car. The less mas your motor must spin...the quicker revs will build.

I have two videos of my car. One from when my car had 159.9 whp and another with 180.1whp. When looking over both of them, I can't really tell that my new set up is revving faster, but i can definitely feel that the car is faster...
Also, with a JDM final drive, I would be revving faster, but i would also be traveling less distance per revolution and shifting more often. Is it really worth it in terms of acceleration?

Your max. rpm is not changed. But the engine torque has increased, so you will notice an higher acceleration in rpm not the max rpm.
